Leimer is an ambient artist who has been active for more than 25 years now, under influence by French impressionism (Debussy and Satie), the analogue electronica of the 70s (Schoener, Baumann etc) and finally the more recent, so-called "Fourth World"-method of Hassell and Brooke. I am not sure which number in the row of issues "Statistical Truth" is, but this is not especially important either, the wuality of the album is nonetheless high.

Brian Eno's doctrine about ambient music was that it should be able to segment silence as background and, in addition, on closer hearing should be able to be studied as any other composed or improvised sound. K Leimer's music fulfills this to the full, and Statistical Truth is both a scenery and a mobile sonic mass of nuances, some gradual and gliding, other more static and monumental without splitting the large musical piece. Leimer utilizes analogue and digital synths, piano effects, Mellotron and electronic studio processing in order to create adjacent dynamic tone surfaces, careful ostinates and open drones in a long thematic development which in many ways constructs a neo-classical template for structure and variation. This makes the piece enjoyable also in a more compact form.

One of the better ambient records I have heard lately.
